LISA, the comprehensive software package for the design, planning and evaluation of intersections, testing traffic-actuated controls and simulating traffic flow.
LISA can be used to design, plan, evaluate and optimize traffic controls for single intersections, for progressive signal systems and for road networks.

Project Management

Professional project management forms the program's core. It is here that intersections and coordinations can be created, deleted, imported and exported. Its hierarchical data structure and clearly organized treeviews enable fast and easy navigation. Intelligent search and filter routines make your day-to-day work easier. Different planning variants can be allocated a status (in-use, archive, draft, etc.). Explanatory notes can be created and attached to the intersections. In the network version, centralized data is made available to multiple users via different access rights.

Basic Data Supply

A graphic interface makes it easy to enter data for intersections and signal groups, to create incompatibility matrices and to calculate intergreen times. The corresponding tables or matrices are generated automatically. Changes can be made in the tables or via the graphic interface. Easy-to-use automated shortcuts and sensible defaults make data input easy. For example, regional settings such as the Austrian RVS standards can be stored in a default settings file.

Signal Timing Plans

There are extensive features for efficiently creating and editing optimal signal timing plans. Signal timing plans can be created individually. In addition to manually creating signal timing plans, it is also possible to automatically calculate and optimize them according to different parameters. The integrated quality analysis feature provides information on capacity, queue length, wait time, etc. The calculation of evaluation parameters is performed in accordance with HBS 2001 (or RVS).

Coordinations

LISA supports the planning of coordinated corridors and networks. Its time distance diagrams reflect the signal data of individual intersections. Time distance diagrams, whether generated automatically or created manually, are very easy to work with. Diverse features guarantee an easy-to-read graphic display and correspondingly attractive print-outs. In LISA, it is possible to adjust coordinations to public transport needs. Manually created public transport lines can be displayed in the time distance diagrams (TTD). It is also possible to display the GPS data collected during measurement trips for private or public transport as public transport lines in the TTD and to analyze it.

Traffic-actuated Controls (OMTC)

The advanced development environment OMDE, together with the logic editor and integrated input assistants, makes creating control logics as easy as possible. The user simply "clicks" the control together and can test it immediately using the simulation tool. Detectors are activated by a click of the mouse, by a random generator or by test patterns. The integrated debugger allows you to follow and analyze the control step by step. Simulations can be performed for single-intersection controls, coordinations or adaptive controls.

Traffic Counts

Traffic counts can be analyzed in tables and diagrams in the Traffic Count module. Either the data can be entered manually, or a variety of interfaces to electronically collected data can be used, including interfaces to the central traffic computers. The number of intersection legs is unlimited, allowing intersection flow diagrams to be displayed for every intersection. For special analyses the data can be exported to MS Excel®.

Unsignalized Intersections

Evaluation calculations based on intersection data (e.g. wait times, capacity, etc.) can be performed for unsignalized intersections, junctions and roundabouts in accordance with HBS 2015. With a simple click of the mouse, it is possible to switch between intersections and roundabouts.

VISSIM Interface

Controls created with LISA can be directly simulated with the simulation tool VISSIM from PTV AG. To do this, the control logic created using LISA OMTC, including all its parameters, is uploaded to the virtual LISA controllers. The virtual LISA controllers communicate via a corresponding interface with VISSIM. The virtual controllers receive detector data from VISSIM and send switch commands for the signal heads (e.g. red, yellow, green). The simulation network is generated in VISSIM independently of LISA. When the simulation is started, the LISA control panel is automatically opened. It is possible to switch between programs in the controllers while the simulation is running. The virtual controllers can communicate with the intelligent, adaptive control system INES.

Adaptive traffic controls designed in LISA can run in modern controllers. Both the basic data supply and the control logic, including their parameters, can be exported in various formats. The supply of controls created in LISA is also possible via the OCIT-VD interface (central traffic computer).
